Trying to try Coderush

I've read alot about CodeRush.  It's kind of a pricey product, so I have shyed away from trying it, but last night I threw in the towel and decided to give it a shot.  If it's really that good, it much be worth the coin.  And since I've heard people go so far as to say its like crack for developers.

I played with it a bit last night, and the one opinion I could form was that it is a huge product.  So after about 10 minutes of playing with the purty icons it throws in the ui, I said I would pack it in for the night and see how it performs with real work tomorrow (today).

I come into work today, load up VS.net, and low and behold, CodeRush timed out.  Really?  Yes.  Half of the functionality just disappeared, and the initial pop-up says its expired.  This has to be an error either on my system or in the app, since I highly doubt people would appreciate a 10 hours trial.  Has anyone else seen this?  I emailed DevExpress, but since I am not a customer I have my doubts to if they will get back to me.  I hope so.

Update : no response from devexpress yesterday, so I unisntalled it. I might try it in a sandbox at home, but won't be on my dev box, so doubt it would get any real testing. Oh well.

What functionality were you looking for from this product? IMHO, CodeSmart 2003 owns pretty much all IDE extension applications I have seen. Also QuickCode.NET is a nice code expansion tool that we used at work pretty much all the time.

After looking, CodeSmart looks like a very comparible product. Looks like CodeSmart is more "traditional", where CodeRush is more "flashy". I'll have to give it a shot today.

<br>I def use quickcode.net too. I bought it a while ago and forgot about it until just a couple weeks ago, and have started back up. I still don't think I'm using it to the fullest, but its saving keystrokes anyway I slice it, which I appreciate.

Hi:

CodeRush has a rather quirky trial system. Their trial software comes with a fixed expiry date which they publish on their website (currently is in April)

For me, it's GREAT software
